About

Kassy Gascho is a filmmaker, photographer, editor and creative currently based in Toronto.  She has majored in film in the Claude Watson Secondary School Arts Program and had two years of study in Media Production at Ryerson University.  Recently graduating from Ryerson's Image Arts: Film Studies Program, Kassy possesses strong skills in both filmmaking and media creation. 

Kassy has been intensely trained in various aspects of filmmaking, having practiced screenwriting, editing, cinematography and lighting. 

Kassy has worked with many different formats alongside digital in both moving image and still image works including 35mm, Super 8 and 16mm film. She has also been a participant in microcinema filmmaking having many of her projects being shot on an iphone. 

Her films have been recognized by Toronto Youth Shorts, The TYS180 Film Festival, Blood in the Snow Film Festival  and the annual Zoom Student Film Festival, alongside having her 24 Hour Film projects screened at the Tiff Bell Lightbox. She was the recipient of The University Women's Club of North York Arts Scholarship in 2016, for having strong engagement in the arts as well as the Deep Cut Visual Film Award for her 2021 short The Phone Interview

Kassy has collaborated with many organizations and companies to create content such as Skylark, Youth & Families, Ryerson Image Centre and currently works with Youtuber Amandarachlee, as a videographer and editor, who's channel has grown from 800k subscribers to  2.2m subscribers. 

Her still works include conceptual portraiture, expressive self portraiture and focus on conveying moods throughout body parts and textures.
